Liverpool FC manager Jurgen Klopp is a really nice bloke. I’m not much into football, but I like seeing his interviews in the sports news – he is level-headed, reasonable and intelligent and he often speaks about complex matters with wonderful simplicity.
Before yesterday’s UEFA Champions League final, he said something that stuck with me. It’s not a 100% quote but it went along the lines of-
It doesn’t matter how great you were in the past. It doesn’t even matter how great you can be in the future. The only thing that matters is how great you are today because that’s how you win.
Liverpool didn’t win yesterday but let’s no go there. Instead, let’s remember that neither our past successes nor our future potential is more important than what we do to be our best selves today.
